John Fogarty (C.C.R.), responding to questions: To me, those 1950s records were right - some of the Sun Records... At the time I didnt know any better. It didnt even occur to me that you could sound any other way. To me the right way was rock and roll, and rock the right way was 1955. Rock was always something to protect, like an endangered species. JF: Oh, yeah. My singings obnoxious. [My playing] is just a little wrong all the way through. [But] there are some records that are super because of that. Midnight Special is on purpose out of tune and its really neat that way. It wouldnt be right any other way - it would sound much too clean and pure.
