Stevie Wonder's co-producer Bob Margouleff comments: I’ve been playing synthesizers since 1967. Many people use them as an imitative tool, but there’s a law of diminishing returns. When I’m working on a session and want the sound of real horn or violin players, I’ll go out and get the real thing. The synthesizer is good at creating its own reality. It doesn’t have any history like the piano or guitar, and it’s only possible because of the technology we have. [Thus,] it is the musical instrument of our time. People say it sounds electronic. That has to do more with the way it’s played. The only limitation is its player.
